Help for Control My PC: Remote on Android and the free Control My PC app on Windows.
What you need
- An Android phone or tablet with Android 8 or later, with Control My PC: Remote from Google Play.
- A PC with Windows 10 (version 1809 or newer) or Windows 11, with the free Control My PC app from the Microsoft Store.
- Bluetooth, or both devices on the same Wi-Fi network, set as a Private network in Windows.
The same Android app also controls a Mac with the free Control My Mac app (macOS 14 or later) from controlmymac.com.
Getting started
- Install Control My PC from the Microsoft Store and open it. It starts in the system tray and opens a Setup Guide.
- Click “Allow network access” and say Yes when Windows asks, so your phone can reach your PC.
- Install Control My PC: Remote on your phone from Google Play.
- Scan the QR code your PC shows with the phone app, or type its 6-character code. You’re paired, and the connection is encrypted.
Can’t see the app? Find Control My PC in the system tray. Drag its icon from ^ to the taskbar to keep it visible.
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
- The phone app tries Bluetooth first. If your PC doesn’t answer over Bluetooth, it uses Wi-Fi for that session by itself, and tries Bluetooth again next time.
- Not every PC can host the Bluetooth connection. The Windows app tells you: “Bluetooth: Not available on this PC. Wi-Fi works on its own.”
- You can pick Bluetooth or Wi-Fi by hand in the phone app’s Settings. A choice made by hand stays.
My phone can’t find my PC
- Same Wi-Fi: both devices must be on the same network, not a guest network. Guest networks and some hotspots stop devices from seeing each other.
- Private network: in Windows, set your Wi-Fi as a Private network. If Windows asks about network access, click Allow.
- Firewall: open the Windows app’s Setup Guide and click “Allow network access”, then Re-check.
- VPN: a VPN on either device can route local traffic away. Pause it, or turn on its local-network exemption.
- The app is running: Control My PC must be open in the system tray.
The pointer moves, but some windows don’t react
Windows doesn’t let any app control administrator windows, like Task Manager, or the lock screen. Control My PC can’t either. Everything else on your desktop works as usual.
Stuck keys or buttons
Click Stop in the Windows app’s tray panel: it releases every key and mouse button at once. Resume brings control back.
